Recipe for Miss Larkin’s Hot Chocolate


Per person:

Grate about 2 tablespoons of  85/75% Dark chocolate & put into a small, heavy-bottomed saucepan along with a cup of milk (the cup you’re going to use, or one similar).

Heat slowly, whisking regularly. DO NOT BOIL.

Whilst whisking, add a pinch of chilli powder, a few drops of vanilla essence, a pinch of powdered nutmeg, a pinch of powdered cinnamon & a cardamom pod. Allow to heat until hot enough to drink & all the chocolate has dissolved.

Add sugar if desired  -  also, whipped cream on top with chocolate shavings (optional, but rather nice).
